Final Project

The whole picture plane is used to show the saturated colored shapes. The shapes are geometric and its color complement each other. There aren’t any outlines, but implied lines.. And the shape’s colors pop. The whole picture plane is asymmetrical and the visual weight is carried by the size of the shapes. The visual flow leads your eye around the painting. The wave like blue shape leads you to the orange shape, diamond shape, and the purple shape on the top right corner. The focal point is where the three (purple, blue, and yellow) colors meet towards the top right of the paper. All the colors on the painting are mixed using the purple and yellow, and orange and blue. The edges of the shapes are soft and dark to show depth. It creates an illusion as if the shapes are three dimensional. I tried to put the complementary colors next to each other to show the contrast between the two.

My design came from one of my doddles that I do in my notebook during some of my classes. And most of the doddles looked very dainty because of how small they were and had simple detail. So I thought adding color to the doddle would make the design stand out.

I made the details less complicated because in my sketches, the was a lot more detail and lines that it would make the painting overwhelming. There is repletion of the shapes that come in different directions and there is contrast especially with the yellow that is place against the darker values. I tried to use even brush strokes and used tape on oh the sides of the painting to make a cleaner look.
